![]() Are there exceptions? Sure there allways are, but especialy in a world that is highly comprised of specialists (that's what the wings are basicly, together with the social caste system), a single person is not supposed to found himself in situations that were meant to be solved by specialists in there respective fields, and manages to do them himself.Īnd I'm not saying that he should be stuck to one field of expertise. From hunting mammoths to creating a computer game. So people began to form groups so they are able to achieve things that were impossible without it. Because humans (among other mammals) realised that they have a tough time to get through life alone. It's why there is a society to begin with. ![]() Messaggio originale di Fusei:I am not sure I agree with you on that r-cane, overcoming the challenge of this world with a lone character would still check the box of a "solid, plausible world to experience" to me.Īlthough not a CRPG, you could overcome all the challenges of Fallout 1 with the vault dweller for example (I mean a single build). My point being : should playing a lone wolf character feels like gimping yourself? Or should it be as viable (at least in therm of content availability) as a generic balanced party? If you're going for an unbalanced party (say melee only) it's probably for fun and you know you're gimping yourself. It's generally a good idea to cover skill or attributes that will get checked. Well, CRPG have had a thing for non combat-skill-check skill for a very long time (for better or for worse). ![]() Now you could argue what if I don't play a balanced party? It's a valid point however you can easily cover every checked attributes/skills in a balanced party. Maybe some people would end up with a whole party without a single member that had high marks x attribute I think giving your one character everything he needs to do everything that a whole diversified party could do is going a bit too far.Īlso, it's not like any one party would be guaranteed to be able to to meet any check necessary in all circumstances with one or another of their party members even if you were playing with a whole party. If you are choosing to play alone, then you are basically choosing to play the game under a different style than normal. Messaggio originale di PhamTrinli:But I don't think the goal is to make your one character exactly as viable in all areas as a whole party.
