![]() The trouble is that if C drive goes, D drive also goes. My D drive has a very strict hierarchy with about 40 "parent folders". ![]() are saved to D: except for a few important "configuration" folders and some stuff in "My Documents". I only have a programs on C: All program data, files etc. My PC is partitioned into a C drive and a D Drive. I'm a bit OCD about backing up after two hard drive crashes. I would certainly be prepared to buy this program when it is fully developed! some nice observations and ideas Oogy Poogy:)Īlex, I really believe that this is one of the BEST backup programs I've ever used (and I use a lot) and I really appreciate the work you're doing. Is there a way to prove a faint highlighting of the job when active? I would change "Go" to "Start" in the main screen - Start/Stop sounds better than Go/Stop Yep, I'll be retiring the original version shortly after the V2 hits production, so it will all go back to being publicly referred to as just "Bvckup". Just noticed that the "About" splash screen does not show "Bvckup 2", but simply "Bvckup". Is this still happening in recent releases? I also notice that BU2 lists the path of my destination folder (which resides on the NAS) without a drive letter. Is this still an issue with Beta 10? I'm guessing it was due to periodic drive letter enumeration that the first two releases did every minute or so. I do notice my NAS is "waking" a bit more often than usual Not sure how to prove.Ĭan you please retest? This is one of basic tests I did myself so it absolutely should be working. Created 200 MB text file, then modified single character but still appeared to do a full copy. I sketched this few days ago - sketching the other day - ĭelta doesn't seem to work. I genuinely like messing with this sort of thing, especially the visualization stuff, so it will be added sooner rather than later. I'd like to see a bit more info on the main screen. It does? It shouldn't, not if the original account is a basic de-elevated admin. Same applies when running with Full Administrative rights. This is one of the reasons actually why I started considering a separate "Pro" or "IT" version - just to make sure only qualified people mess with a service mode. It *can* be configured to work, but it's far from obvious. Yes, I didn't realize it would be a problem until I tried it. I understand why this happens, just pointing it out. Backing up to a network drive doesn't work when running as a service (destination drive not found). Imagine that :) I'll change it so that a bit the setup runs for at least a couple of seconds in total. There are already few delays, of 250 ms each. I thought running as a service was super important, but I've realised that it has an effect on the credentials available to the service, which in turn affects what the service has access to (particularly across the network).Īnyway, this is pretty good, and I will keep an eye on it and report any further issues or comments. What matters the most to me are speed, low resource usage, and reliability. The app just feels really sparse, which may be because it is beta, or it may be because that is what you intended. speed, estimated completion, what file and directory are being copied. I'd like to see a bit more info on the main screen, e.g. Performance seems really good, although hard to gauge as there is no feedback of what file is currently being copied. The Change buttons with the down arrow, should change to an up arrow when the button has been pressed. Not a bad thing, but a little offputting initially. Intimidating first dialogue - blank with Add new backup. Artificial delay on the installer? I have a very fast PC (with SSD) and each time took a finite time (.25 of a second maybe). Thanks for your help and for your interest!
